The Gateway Quadrant is a vast region of space consisting of 4 sectors containing mostly small, subsector-sized polities and independent worlds. The Imperium, one of the Great Powers, occupies most of Ley Sector and a fraction of the Glimmerdrift Reaches Sector. The vicious, centauroid K'Kree dominate much of space near the small nations of Maranantha-Alkahest Sector, while the enigmatic Hivers manipulate events of Crucis Margin Sector. Spaceships of a thousand varieties ply the lanes between the stars, carrying members of dozens of different alien races. Tensions are high in the Quadrant, as the Imperials, K'kree, and Hivers play the great game of empire while the smaller states squabble amongst themselves. It is a place of high adventure, with fortunes to be won and lives to be lost on a thousand worlds.
