Pearlbase is the third planet in a system of six. The first two are minor rocks of 2,400 and 3,200 kilometer diameter giving statistics of X100000 and X200000. Pearlbase has a lot of small continents and large islands scattered over the ocean surface. The planet was settled two centuries ago by a corporation formed by a dissident religious group. Development pro­ceeded slowly due to a reluctance to devote resources to other than land-based agriculture and industry. An internal revolution some 50 years ago brought a different faction into control of the board of directors. Recent efforts have increased the amount of aqua-culture and sea industry and produced a much greater return than in the past. The fourth orbit is occupied by an asteroid belt, and the fifth is occupied by a frozen dust ball with statistics of XA92000 and six infintesimal moons. The sixth planet is a small, frozen rock of X101000 statistics.
