Brilliant Gem Class Coreships

An innovative new concept in interstellar transport, the Brilliant Gem Class provides long distance passenger travel throughout the Krax Confederation. The six Brilliant Gems work specific routes, carrying up to three smaller module ships, the Sapphire Moon Class Moduleships being the most common. Each moduleship then runs passengers along shorter feeder routes.

The Brilliant Gem vessels are among the largest, most technically sophisticated commercial ships in the Gateway Quadrant. Each displaces over 36,000 tons and is capable of 5-parsec hyperjumps. Jump range is reduced when carrying one or more modules, at a loss of 1 parsec range for each module carried.

The Brilliant Gems were designed from the ground up to serve as naval auxiliaries in wartime. As such they are among the few commercial vessels in the Quadrant armed with a spinal mount meson accelerator, particle beam barbettes, and other military-grade systems. Some Brilliant Gems also count light fighter craft among their complements of carried small craft.
